VISHNUMAYA

Vishnumaya, as described by devotees, is a deity who is easily pleased and extends his benevolence to all. Lord Vishnumaya is considered a precious gift granted by the divine grace of the Lord Shiva, alongside other deities like Dharma Shastha Sree Murugan and Vigneeswara, specifically for the protection of Kaliyuga. He resides in Puliyampully Namboothiri Mutt, graciously fulfilling the prayers of his devoted followers. The story of Vishnumaya begins with a tribal woman named Koolivaka, who was a devout worshipper of Goddess Parvathy. When Shiva went hunting in the Kooli forest, he saw Koolivaka and feeling attracted, he proposed her to become the mother of his child. Koolivaka, an ardent devotee of Parvati, communicated this request to Parvati through a prayer, and Parvati fulfilled the request by assuming the Maya form of Koolivaka and eagerly awaited Siva's arrival. Out of the four children born out of this, “Vishnumaya” is born as the fourth. Goddess Parvati gave the right Koolivaka to raise children.

After their union, a beautiful child named "Sivanandana" was born. As the child grew older and learned the truth of his parentage, he headed towards Siva's abode, riding on a charming buffalo and playing his favorite Eezhara. However, he was denied entry. Undeterred, Sivanandana transformed into Vishnu, thus earning the name "Vishnumaya." This tale highlights the remarkable journey and transformation of Sivanandana into a divine figure deserving of reverence and adoration.
